After graduating with a BFA in Fine Art, she started working in the Chicago creative industry in 1995. In 2006, she began making costumes. After perfecting the skill of working with stretch fabric, she started experimenting with unusual painting techniques. This has given her garments a unique, organic quality which sets them apart.
Creativity and construction comes naturally to her, as she grew up with a father who was a Luthier, building high-end acoustic guitars. Her mother taught her how to sew at a very young age. Carla tooled around in her father’s wood-working shop for most of her childhood. His high level of craftsmanship carried over into her own craft as his success has been a big influence.
